Alex Rodriguez launched 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Indiana Redbirds
defeated the Brooklyn Superbas 13 to 11 at US Cellular Field.
The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Rodriguez. He popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 1st
inning, singled in the 3rd inning and smashed a solo-shot out of the park
(his 2nd of the season) in the 8th inning. Brooklyn scored in 6 different
innings, but their shaky pitching kept them from victory.
The victory was credited to J.C. Romero(1-0) who went 1 inning, allowing no
runs. Jason Isringhausen gained credit for his 3rd save. Shaun Marcum(0-1)
absorbed the loss in relief.

Erik Bedard racked up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts and left fielder
Eric Byrnes smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at US Cellular Field as the
Brooklyn Superbas beat the Indiana Redbirds 10 to 4.
Byrnes was a source of great heartache for the Indiana faithful all evening.
He just kept pounding out hits! He ripping a solo home run in the 1st inning,
smashed a two-run homer (his 3rd of the season) in the 4th inning, doubled
knocking in a run in the 6th inning and hit a single in the 8th inning. The
Brooklyn offense was great, scoring in 7 of the 9 innings.
Bedard(2-0) finished the game allowing 4 runs in the victory. Scott
Kazmir(0-3) was the losing pitcher. He allowed 3 homeruns in 4 innings of
work.
'He was really impressive tonight,' Kazmir said of his counterpart. 'Our guys
were just swinging at air.'

Placido Polanco had a big day against Brooklyn. He doubled clearing all three
ducks off the pond. in the 5th inning, doubled in the 6th inning and
delivered a single in the 8th inning. Indiana kept the scorekeepers busy in
