Carlos Beltran slammed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI and Roger Clemens delivered 9
solid innings as the Montreal Royals smashed the overmatched struggling
Joliet Jackhammers, 21 to 1.

Beltran was really in 'the zone'. He lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the
1st inning, smacked a three-run homer (his 17th of the season) in the 2nd
inning, doubled which plated a run in the 5th inning, lined a single in the
7th inning and delivered a one-base hit in the 8th inning. Montreal kept the
scorekeepers busy in the 2nd inning which saw them plate 7 runs on 7 hits and
the 8th inning with 6 runs on 6 hits. Montreal dominated offensively as they
scored in 6 different innings.

Clemens(5-3) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 1 run. The loss was
charged to Ryan Franklin(2-5). 'I thought it was my best performance in a
long time,' said Clemens. 'I had good command early in the game. I had my
control and composure and everything went well.'
