WEB GEMS- Top 3rd: Matt Holliday robbed Mark Loretta of a Homerun!
Mark Loretta had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Josh Towers carried a no-hitter
into the 9th inning as the Kansas City A's outscored the reeling Joliet
Jackhammers 4 to 0.
Towers(1-0) dominated Joliet hitters. He was stingy on the mound, allowing
just 1 hit and 1 walk in 9 innings. The right-handed Towers lost his chance
for a no-hitter when Ryan Freel singled with two outs in the 9th inning.
Kansas City finished with 10 hits in the victory.
Ryan Franklin(4-14) was the loser. 'Towers gave us exactly what we needed
tonight,' Rich Schneider said. 'When he threw the fastball he threw it for
strikes. They were really fooled by his change. Most of the time he had
them chasing it.'
