CBA PREDRAFT NEWSLETTER (0.4)
-=Final clarification about guidelines for the draft=-
The draft will be a list draft sent to commissioner every day and we will draft
one round per day. We will so from scratch and we will do 34 rounds, 33 players
(with 30 meeting requirement and 3 not meeting requirements) and a stadium.
Since what I was thinking is better said from what Randall wrote I will replace
my "No more than 800 AB per position before the 14th round and no more than 1000
AB per position at the conclusion of the draft." by this paragraph: "We are
wanting to prevent stockpiling players by taking two front line star-caliber
players (for example, Piazza and Pudge Rodriguez) at the same position. So, if,
during the draft, we see that you doing this sort of thing, we may disallow your
pick. If you are in a DH league we may allow you to pick two front line
star-caliber players at the same position and use one at DH, but we will not
allow it at the positions of C, 2B, SS, and 3B. We will allow you to take two
front line star-caliber players at an OF position (like CF) if there is another
open OF position that they can play at (we have to allow this since you can play
a CF at RF without restrictions)." Thanks Randall.
For starting pitchers, there must be no more than 3 SP with 200 IP or more in
the 8 first rounds. No team may have fewer than 10 pitchers who must have the
required 1450 IP for all their pitchers.
No team may have more than two closers with closer rating of 3 or more.
At the end of the draft, the team must cover 625 AB for each positions (if your
conference use DH, you must have 625 AB serving for that too), with a minimum of
17 position players (batters).
During the draft, you may wish to pick a the stadium you will involve in.
Instead of writing the name of a player you may put the name of the stadium
(just put the name of the team who play there...). You may draft your park from
the first round to the 34th round, no specific round will be use for that. If
you wish to have Dodgers Stadium or Coors Field, you may want to draft it
earlier, but what is earlier in this case? I don't know myself. -=**=-
-=Draft deadlines=-
Ok guys, the draft will start on Monday, so you will have to send me your list
by Monday 10:00 PM (eastern time). I will then e-mail back the results, around
midnight to every manager in the league. The deadline will be at 10:00 PM every
night, so don't miss it. -=**=-
-=Manager draft preferencies list=-
So far I receive list from Dan Noonan, Cory Light, Wayne McGee, Stephane
Bouchard (my official coach), Gerald Benoit and Jon Calder. David Covert, Justin
Gates, Randall Flowers and Scott Owens tell me when or what they will do with
it. If you're not on this list, please send it to me ASAP.
-=Trade=-
I announce that trade is open. -=**=-
-=Batter and pitcher files=-
They are available on the WEB page. I will send them to you by e-mail to in
different messages. I will send you batter.txt for all available batters and
webfield.txt because there is some bugs in the defensive. There will also be a
file fitcher.txt which is the stats for pitcher. I'll send you also a file send
by David, fore the ratings on starting pitcher, relief picher and closer. Sorry,
it would have been too long to enter it on the main database, to send it to you.
So you will have 4 files in attachement on this message. These file are very
important for the draft, so you will probably need to keek them for the
checklist and use them as reference.
Please be advised that altough those files represent accurately the available
players for the CBA pre-season draft, you may find error in the stats listed,
particularly with the SOM defensive rating wich are the one issued by STRAT-FAN
in december.

-=Little questionnaire=-
Ok guys, there is those little questions.
a) have you printed out and saved the draft lists?
b) do you fully understand the draft guidelines?
c) do you understand when the lists are due each day?
d) are you able to meet the daily deadline for draft lists?
e) did you access at least one time the CBA web page at: http://alize.ere.umontreal.ca/~lamarrcl/CBA/
If you do answer no to one question after getting this email, with the
attachments, get in touch with me. Answer me YES if everything is under control
on your side. Simple, no? The draft is scheduled for the 24th, and I do firmly
believe that we will start that day, so gentlemen, please answer your
Preferencies list ASAP and send them back to me. Remember, the deadline at each
day is 10:00 PM eastern time
