47,511 fans watched an exciting game at PNC Park. The Neah Bay Whalers topped
the Belfast Brawlers by the slimmest of margins, 4 to 3.

In the top of the 3rd inning Neah Bay scored 2 runs with the help of 3 hits.
Carlos Silva opened up the inning nicely when he delivered a single. Brian
Giles was next and he laced a single. Rafael Furcal then laid down a
sacrifice bunt. Jeff Kent stepped in and he would ground out knocking in a
run. Javier Valentin stepped into the box and singled scoring the final run
of the inning. Neah Bay had 12 hits for the afternoon.

Silva(1-0) was the winner allowing 1 run in 6 and 1/3 innings. Silva got help
from Brad Lidge who was credited with his 2nd save. Kirk Saarloos(0-1) was
charged with the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 8 hits and 3 walks in 5
innings.

Mike Cameron hit a homerun and had 2 RBI at PNC Park as the Neah Bay Whalers
beat the Belfast Brawlers 7 to 3.

Neah Bay went ahead for good in the 4th inning as they scored 2 runs on 4 base
hits. Belfast had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.

Pedro Martinez(2-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 2 runs. Gustavo Chacin(0-2) absorbed the loss. 'We won because we
did the little things right.' John Skillings said after the game. 'This is
why we practice things over and over and over, so when we get in close games
we don't make mistakes.'

right-handed Martinez lost his chance for a no-hitter when Brian Schneider

the victory.
