1997-03-01 Kilgore Bashers
2006-03-01 Bryan Bashers (City Change)

Founding member of the CBA.  I had just gotten into Strat-o-Matic basebal at the time, and was looking for leagues to join. This one was a perfect fit (I tried one other, but didn't last a full season there).  Made the 1st trade in League history:

Sunday march 23, 1997:
Kilgore Bashers send their 1,2,3 and 9 pick in return of the 1,2,3 and 9 pick of Hitmen's Longue-Point.

1st Pick was Chuck Knoblauch.  Who the next year was involved in a trade that went a long way towards forming the trade council.  In need of pitching, I traded Knoblauch and Bobby Abreu for some Old pitcher (I had looked at his age wrong and thought he was in his 20's instead of almost 40)..I can't find the trade now, but I think it was Jimmy Key.  Horrible trade. (At the time, losing Knoblauch seemed the biggest blow here, but his career took a nose dive, while Abreu went on to have a decent career).

The Bashers started out in Kilgore (where I lived at the time), then moved with me to Bryan.  We are thinking about moving to Temple next, but it may take a few years to build the stadium.  Overall, the Bashers are just below .500 winning percentage.  Worst season was 2004, when we went 57-105, while the best was just 3 years leater with a 92-71 record (163 games..tied with Philly so we had a one game playoff that I lost).  Only trip to the post season was in 2012, when I won my division after moving from Clemente to Staub (going 87-75), but losing in 4 close games to Montreal.

Ty Wigginton hit one over the fence and had 4 RBI as the Kilgore Bashers
defeated the Houston Aeros 19 to 15 at US Cellular Field.

Wigginton enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He doubled plating a run in
the 4th inning, doubled in the 5th inning and smacked a three-run homer (his
12th of the season) in the 8th inning. Kilgore kept the scorekeepers busy in
the 3rd inning plating 4 runs and the 8th inning with 6 runs on 4 hits. A
wild and woolly affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times.

Brandon Backe(1-0) went 1 inning allowing 5 runs for the win. Dustin Hermanson
recorded the save, his 28th. Bob Howry(2-2) suffered the loss in relief.
