Belfast Brawlers
Belfast started as Ray Cappocchi's Montecito Habanero's in 1997. They later in 2002 moved to a place Kakabeka Falls.
Then in 2003 became the Pirates. JD Adams took charge late in 2003 and moved the team to Belfast.
I have been playing Strat-O-Matic baseball ever since my best friend Doug Brunet had introduced the game to me way back in 1972 maybe 1973 sometime around there. I have always loved the game of baseball and Strat sure does bring that baseball feeling to you. Most of you know me as JD, but you can always call me by my middle name which everyone does which is Derek (hey Blake, are we cousins?)First name is John, My favorite team since the 70’s has been and still is the Dodgers. My team’s name the Belfast Brawlers derives from my grandfather’s home town in Ireland and the Irish love of fighting (mostly after a few pint of ale).My team is usually built(or I try to build it) on two aspects, good pitching and never say die Attitude players. The Brawlers never give up and generally do not. Personal notes: Born and raised in Montreal Canada and have lived pretty much of it in the same District which is called LONGUE POINTE, which I am sure our member’s recognise that name! As a kid I was always playing baseball and followed the Montreal Expos and signed up (at that time, early 70’s) to be a member of the young Expos Membership club ,which then issued a card which allowed you to purchase bleacher sits for 50 cents , my favorite player at that time was the Grande Orange/ Rusty Staub, which my dad would call me because my hair (was) also as red as his was . Claude Lamarre had told me about the CBA( one night while we were curling at the Longue Pointe curling club) which caught my interest .I asked how do I join up, he then let Marc ( our commander and chief ) Know about me and Marc sent me an invite and since then I have been playing in the CBA, the best of all Strat-O-Matic leagues there is/bar none!!
The Brawlers management is having a tough go at it trying to sell season tickets this year at Brawler Field after last years dismal season .This year they will give away free to each person who buys a season ticket a bottle of Jameson Irish whiskey ..after all the team's motto is( keep them happy in the stands so they don't notice the crap on the field !).On to this years team , the Brawlers should win a few more games this year over last but I don't thinkit is a team that will make it to the playoffs as our starting pitching staff is a miss/mash of crap ( just stating the obvious ) and the relief squad is no better .On the hitters side , they are a better hitting and fielding team then last years and they have proven to me they can score runs so far in this very early season but it is still early but I am optimistic they will to well both offensive an especially defensively ...Only time will tell !

The tension started to build around the 6th inning. By the 9th inning the crowd was electrified. Belfast finished with just 6 hits in the victory. Patrick Corbin(5-17) was the winner allowing no runs in 7 innings. Adam Cimber was credited with his 2nd save. Trevor Williams(6-19) took the loss. 'You probably have a better chance of winning the lottery than this happening,' said Corbin who got credit for the win, 'I don't expect it to sink in for awhile.' he said. 'You know, it's hard to say who was better, the starter or the bullpen!'
