Joliet Jackhammers (JJC) Stadium: St-Louis Stadium Conference: Rusty Staub Division: Andre Dawson
When new management took over the franchise currently known as the Joliet
Jackhammers, the team was good enough to make the playoffs, but not good
enough to go deep in the playoffs. Following a few missteps in the form of
questionable trades, the team was reformatted into a "speed kills" team.
Indeed, that mix succeeded in establishing new CBA records for team single
season stolen bases, highlighted by Michael Bourn and Juan Pierre.
Meanwhile, ownership quietly went about the business of dismantling the team, and rebuilding from the ground up. Only Bourn and AJ Pierzynski remain from the early days. The team now has become one of the, (if not the), youngest in the CBA, and projects to have only 3 "over 30" players left prior to the 2014 draft. Patience, (and deals for younger players), have put Joliet in a position to contend for years to come. The future is bright for a team with Carter, Rizzo, Segura, Garcia, Gose, Rendon, Middlebrooks, Hultzen, Quintana and Green.
The Jackhammers are hard at work

For
the curious...that is a 52" muskie caught in Minnesota on September 24,
2008. It was hooked on a Supermodel Cowgirl, black with nickel blades,
trolling about 15 ft down in open water with a one lb keel weight. Second
50+ and biggest yet for me. |

Washington was a new franchise in 2000 as Canadian River Ball Yard Rats stepped aside for Strat Vet Dan DiVirgilio. He lasted 3 years finishing the 2000 season 55-107 and finishing worse in 2001 at 45-117. Nick Yurchuk came aboard in 2002 and brought home a 17 game improvement to 62-100 . He was quite overwhelmed by the dizzying possibilties of rebuilding, and left after the season. In 2003 That franchise later became the present Dawson champion Joliet Jackhammers under the initials JJS in the Schmidt division. In 2004 they moved to Dawson. It's now 4 years later and Jack Frost is in the hunt. He joins the big boys and the possibilities of making CBA history in his tenure are in his contribution.

Juan Pierre: We are looking at a CBA legend. Just look at his
numbers, and he's not done yet. The Joliet Jackhammers star LF/CF Juan Pierre
has a hall of fame worthy career as evidenced by his superior hitting and speed
numbers. In 2012 he has 6 more to total 725 career stolen bases. 10 seasons
over 30, and eight over 70! Stole 80 in '06, 88 in '07, 87 in 2011.
and He has only made 30 errors over his long career in the OF a product of his
consistent low E ratings. A career .305 average. Only 9 career HR's but 887
runs, a threat for 1000+ career. 80 career triples. Quite a career.
